The Faculty is authorized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic to offer university education. The Faculty is also recognised by FEANI (European Federation of National Engineering Associations).

Candidates Eligible for Studies

To qualify for admission to CTU in Prague the candidates must successfully complete their secondary education (for Bachelor study programmes) and Bachelor studies (for Master study programmes). Foreign applicants can:

  1. Study in the Czech language and pay no tuition fee (they are subject to the  same entrance procedures as Czech candidates). You will find details here in the Czech language. Foreigners who intend to study in the Czech language will probably need to attend a course of Czech on an adequate level. If the candidate attends such a course proof of graduating from the course will be required before enrolling in studies at FME.
Further details can be found on http://www.ujop.cuni.cz, E-mail: studujop@ujop.cuni.cz.
  2. Study in the English language.
An annual tuition fee for new incoming students can be found on https://studyatctu.com/full-time/first-steps/.

Knowledge of English (recommended level): B2/FCE/IELTS5.5/TOEFL IB T 65/TOEFL CBT 185.

  • The faculty reserves the right to reject applicants who are inadequately prepared for a programme of mechanical engineering studies taught in English. An application form of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is available on request or after opening Application Forms on this website.

To be admitted as a Bachelor student the applicant must provide documents confirming their high school education (final report) in written form. Before registration, your high school final report must be validated.

To have this done, the applicant will need:

  1. an authorized copy of the final report with an apostille or legalization (depends on the type of agreement between your country and the Czech Republic – learn more at your Ministry of Foreign Affairs),
  2. a list of courses you took at the high school including hours per year for each course (again the original with an apostille or legalization) The courses you took at the high school will be compared with our system of education. If this comparison matches, your report will be validated. If there are minor differences, you will have to pass a validation exam. If there are major differences, your report will not be validated and you will not be admitted to study at a university in the Czech Republic.

These documents should be officially translated into Czech. The validation is done by the Prague City Council, Department of Education (E-mail: martin.fucik@cityofprague.cz) - not by the university.

A copy of the validated documents must be presented to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the latest before enrollment.

  • There are no exceptions to the above rules. They are a legal requirement of the Czech Republic, not this university.

A copy of the validated documents must be presented to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the latest before enrollment. More information.

The duly completed all necessary documents must be presented at the latest by June 30. This does not apply to doctoral study applicants.

  • The duly completed and signed application forms (with all necessary documents) must be presented at the latest by April 30. This does not apply to doctoral study applicants.
  • Learning outcomes are measured by the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). This system  enables mutual recognition of credits and makes it possible for students to spend a part of their studies at universities different from their mother university without loss of credits. The number of credits assigned to individual courses correspond to the workload the students need in order to complete all learning activities of the particular course. Passing from one academic year to the next one depends on being awarded a certain number of credits.
