Cooperation for better vehicles

The department is, together with its Centre for Vehicles of Sustainable Mobility, a significant institution of Czech automotive industry. The department is the principal contractor of the Josef Božek Competence Centre for Automotive Industry funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TACR) and joins not only activities of all units of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague but also of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Transportation Sciences (CTU in Prague) and cooperating enterprises Škoda Auto, J.S.C., TATRA TRUCKS, J.S.C., Honeywell Co. Ltd., ČZ Strakonice, J.S.C., Motorpal, J.S.C., Brano, J.S.C., Ricardo Prague, Co.Ltd., TÜV SÜD CZECH Co.Ltd., AICTA Design Work Co.Ltd. and technical universities TU Brno, TU Liberec and VŠB- -TU Ostrava. This and other projects investigate innovations in the design of vehicles and drive units with combustion engines and electric motors aimed at reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and emissions, maximum safety, comfort, joy of driving, adaptation to requirements of legislation and competitiveness of Czech automotive industry in the markets of developing countries.

Scientists of the department with focus on Rolling Stock are involved in research activities of the Centre of Competence for Rolling Stock - CKDV. This centre is exploring the possibility of application of mechatronic elements into traverse of rolling stock and problems of the impact of vertical inequalities of track to torsional drive dynamics wheelset.
