Research on functional properties of the rolling stock

The department has model tackle machine to investigate guiding properties of new concepts of two-axle chassis fitted both with conventional axles (CLW), but also axles with freely rotating wheels (IRW).

Tests of gearboxes

  • separate stand for single or multilevel endurance test of multistage gearboxes for cars. Shifting gears with an electromechanical robot in still position.
  • Open stand for dynamic endurance tests of gear system of cars for transverse installation. Input torque to 350 N.m. The highest revolution of the input shaft up to 7000 1/min. Electromechanical robot of shifting gears and clutch control. Frequency of data entry of 100 Hz.
  • Open stand for testing transfer drives, hydrodynamic converters or transmissions for longitudinal installation of the unit (coaxial position of input and output shafts).
  • The inertia stand for endurance tests of synchronizing clutches of car transmissions, to measure losses by flicking or functional tests of unconventional shift mechanisms

Tests of chassis parts

  • The inertia stand to test breaking performance of disc brakes and linings
  • Stand to tests elastokinematics axles. Biaxial loading of wheels at the possibility of changing the wheel stroke.
  • Datron Corevit device for driving tests.
  • stand for detecting characteristics of reduced tires

Tests of passive safety

A device for testing the vehicle in terms of passive safety for pedestrians. The device is designed for testing vehicles according to the methodology EEVC. The device enables to perform tests with all types of impactors under the conditions defined by EEVC methodology.

Functional and performance testing

Functional and cylinder testing laboratoriesMAHA MSR 500 4x4, which measures vehicles with the greatest pulling force on the axle of up to 7000 N. The maximum speed of the vehicle is 300 km/h, the maximum axle load is 2.5 tons. The test laboratory is equipped with electric actuators which gives a wider possibility of tests and examinations - for example, for testing vehicles with hybrid drive.

Laboratories for engine tests

Laboratories have 10 stands for testing power units up to a maximum power of 400 kW / 2100 Nm. Two of them are fully equipped with the latest equipment supplied by AVL List GmbH and enable to perform tests with high predictive ability of measured quantities even in unsteady course of the device under test. To control the course of the examination and collection of measured values is used system PUMA Open. During the measurements it is possible to obtain not only information about the performance parameters, fuel consumption, air flow, temperatures, pressures, including the course of pressure in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine, but also about the composition of exhaust gases. Some stands are also fully prepared to carry out tests under the directives UN ECE 49 and UN ECE 85. The laboratory also has a full-flow dilution tunnel (CVS) with maximum flow rate of 160 m3 / min.

Experimental single-cylinder engine AVL

Experimental diesel single-cylinder engine AVL with bore of 85 mm and stroke of 90 mm is a very unique device. The standard configuration is equipped with a high-pressure injection system BOSCH CommonRail. The required variability of engine operation ensures full access to the control system using SW/ HW ETAS INCA. Thanks to a precise temperature control system of oil and coolant, this device allows to fully implement the experimental activities in topics that are now the main subject of research. As an example may be mentioned evaluation of mechanical losses, effect of exhaust gas recirculation, and research into the properties of fuels during their combustion, etc.

Cylindrical brake

The workplaces in Roztoky is equipped with a cylindrical brake MAHA AIP-ECDM 48l - 4mot allowing to test vehicles with 4x4, maximum axle load of 2000 kg to a maximum power of 300 kW and a speed of 240 km/h (for 60 seconds it is possible to achieve an output of 400 kW) . The diameter of the cylinders is 48", each of the cylinders is controlled separately. The control system enables to fully simulate the basic driving resistances of the vehicle. The software includes a database of standardly used driving cycles. The wheelbase is adjustable from 1800-3600 mm. The adapter enables to hang and subsequently examine a motorcycle. The laboratory also analyses the exhaust gas diluted in the flue gas.

Injection laboratory

To describe the behaviour of the high-pressure injection system can be used a test bench EFS ITB 240 RC-V which in its standard configuration allows to measure torque of the high pressure pump, fuel flow in high-pressure pump, amount of fuel injected (and depending on time) – the injection takes place in the pressure chamber, the return flow of fuel. A unique part of the device is a visualization chamber, which allows the study of rays from high-pressure spray of fuel injectors.

Laboratory of electric drives

The laboratory is equipped with a device for detecting characteristics of electrical rotating machines. It is also prepared to test advanced system for storing electrical energy. The stand is fully automatically controlled and enables to record and display the measured values.

Laboratory of mechatronics

The laboratory equipment allows to solve individual problem areas associated with the development of the vehicle and its powertrain. The main activities include the analysis of the problems of noise and vibration (NVH), predictive control of combustion engines, HIL simulation, and design of mechatronic components. For these purposes, the workplace is equipped with a laser vibrometer POLYTEC PSV-400, acceleration sensor with acoustic camera, computing SW and HW, acceleration sensors.
