The Conditions of the Czech Technical University in Prague for Admission to Study
in the Bachelor’s Study Programme BACHELOR OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering CTU in Prague
with an enrollment date to academic year 2022/2023

CTU in Prague accepts maximum 1 500 students  for bachelor‘s study programme The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.

After successful pass of the first academic year according to the study programme for the students of CTU Prague as amended, the change of the programme will be possible to the programme Engineering.

The study programme BACHELOR OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING for academic year 2022/2023 will be open only in full-time form of study.

The study programme Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering provided in English language is charged (the tuition fee – 55 000 CZK/semester) is set by Annex no.5 „Tuition for the study“ CTU Prague Statue).

(1) Study application

Registration to study at CTU in Prague, the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering study programme is provided on-line, electronic application via:

The application is closed automatically after the e-mail address verification and the charge payment verification (information about the date specified ±4 months after the accreditation, or AS FS confirmation).

In case the application is not closed and registered to the admission process by 5 days (check  the electronic application), please contact the Study Department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague (Monika Matyášová: Phone: +420 224 352 587 or e-mail: Monika.Matyasova@fs.cvut.cz).

After the registration to the admission process the applicant has to submit to the Study Department the following documents by June 30, 2022:
(When sent by the post office, the letter is required to be stemped by June 30, 2022 at the latest, when submitted in person, the letter has to be delivered by 3pm, at the Study Department, Technická 4, 160 00, Praha 6. Using an electronic conversion, f.ex. Czech point or Slovak post, the oficially certified copies can be attached to an electronic application.)

1. Applicants from the Czech Republic, the foreigners with the permanent address in the Czech Republic:

Officially verified (Czech point, Czech post office, notary, regional office) copy of the leaving examination in CZR. The candidate who finished the study abroad has to submit officially verified copy of Nostrification including the Nostrification clause, Czech language proficiency level B2. (the language proficiency is confirmed by:

  1. Leaving examination provided in Czech language
  2. State examination provided in Czech language or Czech language certificate level B2 issued by CTU Prague or Charles University Prague
  3. Confirmation of  Czech language course level B2 at CTU or Charles University Prague with the expected date of the end of the course and the submission of  successfully passed exam after finished the course.

The applicant who finished the international secondary school in the Czech Republic has to present the accreditation of this school issued by Ministry of Education of CZR or Czech language certificate level B2.

When electronic conversion, f.ex at Czech Point or Slovak post office, the verified copy can be attached to the electronic application.

2. Applicants from the Slovak Republic:

Officially verified copy of the Leaving school certificate from the secondary school in the Slovak Republic (no Nostifrication is needed).
When electronic conversion, f.ex at Czech Point or Slovak post office, the verified copy can be attached to the electronic application.

3. Applicants from Hungaria, Deutschland, Poland and Slovenia:

Officially verified copy of the Leaving school examination from high school in the country of origin (no Nostrif. Is needed, but the certified translation into Czech, Slovak or English language is neccessary).
When electronic conversion, f.ex at Czech Point or Slovak post office, the verified copy can be attached to the electronic application.

4. Applicants from abroad (except of the Slovak, Hungarian,German, Polish or Slovenian citizens) and have not finished the Leaving examination at school accredited in CZR and are willing to study in Czech language:

Officially verified copy of Nostrification including Nostrification clause (while the leaving school exam was not taken place at school in CZR – https://skoly.praha.eu/87436_RECOGNITION-OF-FOREIGN-EDUCATION)
When electronic conversion, f.ex at Czech Point or Slovak post office, the verified copy can be attached to the electronic application.
The Czech language certificate level B2. The applicant willing to study in Czech language is required to complete all parts of the admission procedure including the exams in Czech or Slovak language.

(2) Payment of the fee

The admission process fee (850 CZK) per application can be paid as follows:
  • On-line payment by credit card or QR code
  • Account transfer or electronic banking
  • Cash in any branch of Commercial Bank

In order the payment is not matched with the application, it is necessary to submit a confirmation slip (including name, surname and application code), type A slip or its copy, or a slip of cashless payment, can be submitted as a confirmation. The payment or the overpayment is not refundable. The fee is CZK 850 (admissing process charge determined by § 58, col.1law no.111/1998, the amount of the fee was determined by the rector of CTU in Prague on February 16, 2021 according to artl.11 col.2 Statue of CTU in Prague).

(3) Application process

Completed application form after verification of e-mail address and verification of the payment of charge (check in the electronic application) is considered to be submitted.
The application can be submitted by May 21, 2022 at the latest.

(4) Admission process

  • Completed secondary school or vocational education confirmed by high school graduation certificate. Foreigners prove their completed high school education by Nostrification recognizing the study abroad matches to the level of study in the Czech Republic and to recognize the graduation certificate issued abroad.
  • Examination test from mathematics in case the candidate has not passed the leaving examination from mathematics or physics in CZR successfully during the last 3 years (2020-2022). The mathematics examination is taking place at CTU FME Prague on June 9, 2022. An applicant scored less than 50 per cent will not be admitted to study.
  • The current student of the Bachelor programme of FME CTU Prague will not be enrolled for a study. Such a student has to finish his previous study and to submit a confirmation.
  • The applicant has to meet the condition to be at the age of 18 at the beginning of the academic year.

(5) Study admission conditions verification

At first the application is preliminarily assessted. In case of serious shortcomings the candidate will be called upon to their elimination. In case the shortcomings are not eliminated by the deadline, the admission process will be stopped.

Upon the application form is accepted, administration process follows including possibly the evaluation of the entrance examination from mathematics and the process is finished by the Dean‘s Decision on Admittion or Non-admittion  to study.

The deadline of the admission process is the date when all deadlines associated with the issuance of these resolutions expire.

The deadline date to submit the missing documents is June 30, 2022.

The applicants will be informed about the results of the admission process by post until July 31, 2022 at the latest.

In order the conditions are not fullfilled by June 30, 2022, the FME will procceed in accordance with aplicable legislation CTU Prague.

(6) The admission process

  • In order the applicant passes successfully the leaving examination from mathematics or physics in the years 2020 – 2022 at accredited school in CZR, he can be accepted for study without leaving examination provided that  all conditions are met.
  • The students graduated at the FME can apply to waiv the exam from mathematics provided that Mathematics I and Mathematics II passed with the grade „C“ as the worst.
  • Furthermore the entrance examination is waived to the members of the teams reached the  three first places in the competition Wings of Future taken place at ULT FS ČVUT Praha (the holders of diploma – validation date: 3 years from the issue).
  • The applicants who did not pass the leaving examination from mathematics or physics at the high school accredited in the CZR in the years 2020-2022 and the candidates who graduated abroad are required to complete the entrance examination from mathematics (on level comparing with the level of czech leaving examination). The applicant will be invited to the examination.
  • The examinations will take place at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague on June 9, 2022.
  • The on-line entrance examination will be allowed as the only result of the decision concerning the current epidemiologic situation in the Czech Republic.

(7) Terms

  • Application process  
    Application forms can be processed into the system by January 21, 2022.
    Completed application form after verification of e-mail address and verification of the payment of charge (check in the electronic application) is considered to be submitted.
    The deadline for submission of the application is May 21, 2022.
  • Admission process  
    An entrance exam from mathematics will take place at the FME CTU Prague (Technická 4, Praha 6) on June 9, 2022 (only for the students without any leaving examination from mathematics or physics at school accredited in the Czech Republic in years 2020-2022).
    The information about the results will be given to the applicant.
  • The Decision on admission to study
    The written information about the Decision on admission to study will be delivered by July 31, 2022 at the latest, according to the requirement in the electronic application.
  • Enrollment date  
    Bachelor‘s study programme enrollment will take place at the FME CTU Prague (Technická 4, Praha 6) according to a special enrollment schedule of the first year at FME CTU Prague (in the second half of august). Each student will be informed about the enrollment date to the first year with the Decision on admission to study, it will be delivered by registered letter into own hands to the contact address in the Czech Republic (in order the contact address is missing in the application form, the Decision will be sent on e-mail verified in the application) The date of the enrollment is compulsory.
    In order an applicant is under the age of 18 at the date of the enrollment, the legal representative must be present at the enrollment.
    On the day of the enrollment the applicant becomes a student. In case the student is not present at the enrollment on the given date without any excuse or his apology will not be accepted, the faculty will proceed in accordance with applicable legislation of CTU Prague.

(8) Extraordinary terms

The Dean of the Faculty can set another extraordinary term for the application acceptance to the bachelor study programme at FME CTU Prague first of all due to the current hygienic situation and possibly centrally issued restrictions.
In that case this fact will be announced on the faculty website of FME CTU Prague including the extraordinary terms schedule.

(9) Admission comission

In accordance with the provisions of the Rules of admission process CTU Prague the Dean will decide during February 2022 to form the main admission commission and by July 7, 2022 the partial admission commission from mathematics.

(10) Discussion and approval of the conditions by Academic Senate

These conditions were discussed and approved by the Academic Senate of the FME CTU Prague on its ordinary session on January 12, 2022. It was discussed and approved according to the law no.137/2016 Sb. in accordance to which the law 111/1998 Sb. has been changed.
